Yamaha PX Series Stereo Power Amplifiers - PX3, PX5, PX8

The Yamaha PX amplifiers are the newest members of Yamaha’s legendary power amplifier line that began in 1976. It is driven by a newly developed Class-D amplifier that delivers maximum output power with optimized digital processing.

The Yamaha PX series concentrates all the necessary operating functions into a single custom LSI chip that provides a higher output and improved performance in a light and dependable design. It provides reliable protection and excellent sound quality suitable for any sound reinforcement application.

There are several models to choose from:

  • Yamaha PX3 2x 300W at 8Ω or 2x 500W at 4Ω
  • Yamaha PX5 2x 500W at 8Ω or 2x 800W at 4Ω
  • Yamaha PX8 2x 800W at 8Ω or 2x 1050W at 4Ω

Both basic and advanced setup modes are offered in the PX series. The Basic mode allows inexperienced users to easily configure a system, while the Advanced mode offers more precise control over every aspect of your sound settings. Eight programmable presets provide instant recall and reduce setup time, and can also be saved to a USB thumb drive and applied to other PX amplifiers.

The Config Wizard is a very useful feature that optimizes speaker settings to match your system configuration. Just select the appropriate filter and crossover for each speaker, and Config Wizard will do the rest. Config Wizard presets are tuned for each model in Yamaha’s speakers, including the CBR, Club, Installation, and VXS/VXC series. There is also an advanced mode that allows a more detailed configuration of parameters for input routing, input sensitivity, amp gain, and speaker impedance.

The output section of the PX Series has both XLR and TRS inputs, binding posts, SpeakON, and phone outputs. This provides you with the flexibility needed for a variety of environments, and the durability to stand up to extended road use, thanks to the sturdy chassis and carrying handle design.

The Yamaha PX3 power amplifier delivers performance, versatility, reliability, and affordability that make it a “must-have” in your pro audio setup. Get it from Andy’s Music, a NAMM Top 100 Dealer, and you have a winning combination that’s difficult to match. Sales and service since 1977.

Maintenance Tips
  • Regular Cleaning: Use a soft cloth to wipe down the amplifier, removing dust and dirt from the vents, knobs, and surface. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the amplifier has proper ventilation to prevent overheating. Keep air vents clear of obstructions, and avoid stacking other equipment on top.
  • Proper Storage: Store the amplifier in a dry, cool place to avoid moisture damage. If transporting, use a padded case to prevent physical damage.
  • Cable Management: Check cables and connections regularly for wear and ensure they are properly connected to avoid signal loss or damage to the amplifier.
  • Avoid Overloading: Do not exceed the recommended output levels to prevent damage to both the amplifier and connected speakers.
  • Cooling: For models with cooling fans, ensure the fan is working properly. If the fan is noisy or not functioning, consider professional servicing.
